Booster: What can Astrology teach us about our personalities?

Today, we had a special teacher...

Pusheen the cat was our guide through the 12 constellations of the Zodiac!

Not only that, she taught us all about what each sign says about our personalities... in English!

Here is what we learned.

Everyone has a different Zodiac sign depending on their birthday. That is their sun sign, the place where the sun was positioned on the belt of the zodiac when they were born.

If you know anything about Pusheen, you know she loves to eat! She looks forward to her birthday cake all year long! What is Pusheen's Zodiac sign??

We learned the names of all the signs of the Zodiac in English, and also how to properly write and say dates in English too:

  • Stella’s birthday is August 11th. She is a Leo.

  • Anna’s birthday is November 11th. She is a Scorpio.

  • Giorgio’s birthday is September 17th. He is a Virgo.

  • Francesco’s birthday is September 2nd. He is Virgo. Francesco told us that the Big Dipper is also a constellation, but it is not in the Zodiac.

  • Vittoria’s birthday is August 6th. She is a Leo.

  • Esther’s birthday is July 3rd. She is a cancer.

  • Chiara’s birthday February 19th. She is an Aquarius.

  • Edoardo’s birthday is December 22nd. He is a Capricorn.

  • Andrea’s birthday is March 1st. He is a Pisces.

  • Berenice’s birthday is June 6th. She is a Gemini.

Anna is a Scorpio, but she is not sure if the Scorpio personality is really hers.

Giorgio says she is like a Scorpio without the stinger!

We decided Sherlock Holmes is probably a Scorpio... Scorpios make great detectives!

Edoardo thinks he is a hardworking Capricorn. But he doesn’t always mean business!

Andrea thinks he is somewhat a Pisces… but maybe not exactly.

Chiara made an excellent point: Chiara was born on the cusp of two signs, so she has the characteristics of both: Aquarius and Pisces.

Esther is a cancer. She thinks her personality is just like cancer, very caring and helpful!

How would you describe yourself?

I am…

I am always hungry! (like Pusheen!)

I am curious about the world.

I am chatty (I like to talk!)

I am friendly (I am open and like to make new friends)

I am shy. (I am quiet but that doesn’t mean I’m not friendly!)

I am generous; I like to share!

I am cautious… I like to stick to what I know, otherwise I’m skeptical!

I am courageous! A new challenge? I say bring it on!

I am adventurous… I like exploring new things, I am not afraid!

I am hardworking. I study and fulfill my responsibilities!

I am stubborn. I don’t like to change my mind.

I am content. In general, I am happy with my life.

The nine planets of the solar system are an important part of astrology, too. We learned the names of the planets in English, as well a trick for remembering them in order.

English Morning lessons : Citizenship

 19th November

Citizenship: Stereotypes no thanks!

Our year 3 Scuola Media students are always learning about current events in order to have a better understanding of what's happening around them and what better way to do so by learning this information in English the world's international language of communication.

George Fylod's death on May 15th allowed this blindfold to be removed from the world and we could not stop to just listen but also to educate our student on this matter.

We educated our students on where the term stereotype originally came from.

How systemic racism is corrupting systems all around the world and not giving each human equal opportunities.

Our students were incredibly interested in this topic so much that we created a video collage of all our student's voices and opinions on this matter.

We believe in equal rights and equal treatment for all.

EWAC

Comic Creations: Read and Jot your own awesome comic strip on planets.

This workshop was full of colorful conversation, illustration and idioms.

Our fantastic EWAC students created their own comic strips inspired by Frank and Ernest comics.

Our students read and explored the use of funny wordplay along with interesting facts on our planet.

We read multiple Frank and Ernest comics that allowed us to enhance our knowledge of idioms and expressions whilst supplying us with interesting facts on the solar system.

Booster: Let's "Spice Up" our English with some everyday phrases!

Today our goal was to spice up our writing with some fun phrases! Here a few that we learned:

To spice something up: to make something more interesting

Out with the old, in with the new.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks.

To peackock: to show off

To spill the beans! (or for the British: to spill the tea!) Tell me the story! or Tell the truch!

Don't be a one of the "sheeple! " Be yourself!

Our favorite phrase to use by far was ...

Piece of cake!

We said that some subjects in school are a piece of cake!

Like for Berenice, math and history are a piece of cake.

    For Francesco too, and Italian!

PE and math are a piece of cake for Chiara.

We also liked the phrase saved by bell.

The bell saved me from taking the test!

The professor asked me a difficult question, but I was saved by the bell!

Now we can peacock about with the new English phrases we've learned, but we will stay humble for now!
